[on the bus - eavesdropping on conversation around me]
Guy: You're final year aren't you? What're you planning to do afterwards?
Girl: I'm not sure, probably move on to study speech or like physio or something
Guy: Oh you should do speech! Man, speech people are just sooooo nice. Like the other day I was talking to one and they're just ... so nice. If you look at law people they're like ... *trails off* ... hm. But yeah, you should do speech, they're so nice.
lol ... not only do people generalise faculty groups but there's evident stereotypes too.
Thinking about work lately is kinda ... sad/boring/depressing ... in terms of what I would be doing and the level of interaction I would potentially have with people. Choosing accounting is basically straight away a desk job of sorts and sitting behind a computer. You probably don't get to talk to a wide variety of people (not in the sense like my retail job before), which given my year 11 mindset would probably have been perfect but so much has happened and I actually think I prefer a job where I do actually get to talk and interact with people on a regular basis. No idea what I've been through to get to this stage and thought process but man, even preparing for oral presentations - I used to just die at the thought. I hated public speaking and wouldn't for the world have anything to do with getting in front of a group of people listening to me talk. But now, it's changed. Had an oral presentation 3 or so weeks ago to prepare for and present and just before it, I only felt slightly nervous. No butterflies, no desperation to pee (lol), no crazy beating heart. I have another presentation tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty relaxed as well about it I think? Strange.
But such a difference does it make to rely on God in everything I do ...

Fashion Trends and Pressures of the 21st Century
So I just became the little sister and got handed up (down) copious amounts of clothing to which my sister no longer wears any more. Most a clearly new, having been worn only once or twice. When pointing out these various pieces of tops, jackets, singlets and t-shirts, the main replies were usually "Ew, that's so ugly" or "I would never be caught wearing that, I'd be laughed at" or "Heck no, that's not my style". So I think, why did you purchase these in the first place.
Kids these days clearly feel the need to fit into a certain category of fashion sense and style. If not, they are prone to judgement from friends, being laughed at and hence, feeling bad about themselves. I really feel sorry for these kids, and I feel sorry for my sis that she feels such a pressure to fit in and spends/wastes so much money on clothes that she'll only wear once or twice or none, because it's no longer "in" and will stick out and look ugly.
Oh well, score for me.

Birthdays
Just found out this morning that I know of nearly a dozen people with birthdays next month. That's a crazy amount, by far now, March would be the month with the most birthdays. And I thought it was towards the end of the year, lol.
In light of having purchased two cake books in HK last year, I have decided to bake cakes for birthdays this year, should the opportunity arise. Should be a fun experience :) I'll start posting photos too, of the baking experiences. Yay for baking, and a new electric mixer since the old one died of old age.

Fluffy toys, balloons, flowers and chocolate
That time of the year again. Never have made a big deal out of it and won't be doing so any time soon. However, it's the first time in 3 years where I'm not working. I kinda miss laughing or having a silent giggle at the people who order or come into the store looking for things to buy for their significant other ... the people who prepare in advance, the people who don't ... the people who make a big scene and a joke out of it and try to embarrass them, the people who try to do something sweet ... writing and reading the messages that husbands/bfs give to their wives/gfs and vice versa and having a good laugh at them with workmates, mostly because they were corny or sickeningly sweet ... seeing all the crazy names that people give each other .... lol ... seeing people's reactions when delivering the goods. But what I won't miss is the crazy busyness that arises on the day, seeing red and white and pink and hot pink for a whole day or three -_-', and trying to avoid people grabbing balloons off you halfway through a delivery. Aah ... I miss work. The work itself, not the people. So glad I managed to dig myself out of it.

Eye Camera
Driving through the city at 6.30 last night gave me the most beautiful sunset image I've seen in a long long time. Sometimes I wish there were a camera in my eye ... or somewhere near that visual level ... so that I could take pictures at any time. So many moments unable to be captured ... guess I have to rely on the memory in my brain :P
Happy 2011!
